cretan spiced wine.

a winter cocktail just in time for christmas.

cretan spiced wine.

new from the bar. mixed by gareth.

a warming wine-based cocktail spiked with a fresh citrus, sweet apple juice and punchy ginger. a bright alternative to gluhwein, with the same festive factor.

how we make it.

  • oma house red blend

  • tsipouro greek brandy

  • pressed apple juice

  • lemon

  • lime

  • ginger

all the ingredients are placed in a saucepan on the hob. they are gently heated until the reach a temperature of 78 degrees, at which point it is removed from the heat and served immediately + garnished with a clementine.

if making at home.

  • find the best fresh apple juice you can, or make your own.

  • when choosing a red wine for the base, go for something light-bodied and with red fruits on the nose and palette.

  • if you can’t source greek brandy, any aged brandy will do.

  • keep an eye on the temperature whilst heating: alcohol evaporates at 78+ degrees, and you will be left with flavoured fruit juice instead.
